Step Back Into The Past
History of the Queen Anne Inn
Samuel
Good, a South Bend native, made a fortune from the Gold Rush. He
built this Queen Anne Neo-Classical residence in 1893 and gave
it to his daughter, Mabel, as a wedding gift. The Frank Lloyd
Wright designed bookcases and ornate stairway with hand-carved
newel post are but a few of the outstanding architectural
features of the house.
Mabel's
seventeen-room house reflects his prominence in banking and
industry. The original oak floors, silk wallpaper, and mirrored
buffet still make the interior rich and warm. The wrap around
porch, lined with columns, welcomes you to Mabel's home-now the
Queen Anne Inn.
